Why do some people eat rubbish, drink and smoke and never get ill? Posted on August 19, 2022August 19, 2022 by bridgethancock1 This question has come up a lot for me. Clients often say my grandmother ate drank smoked til 95 never a sick day in her life! What we know is our genes don’t create disease, environment can contribute to disease but our internal environment creates the emotions that drive stress and ultimately our health. When the brain and body are out of balance, we release stress hormones. This lowers immunity, down regulates genes and allows disease to creep in. When we relive the past, such as a disagreement with a friend or work colleague, a thoughtless driver, a family quarrel or excessive partying, we think about the event and create an emotion associated with it. Perhaps it’s fear, anger or shame. We store these emotions in the body and release stress hormones that down regulate our immune system. We do this for survival.Whether we are in a stressful situation or not, just thinking about it creates the same emotional charge and has the same physiological affect on the body. This is hugely damaging to our health. So according to Dr Joe Dispensa, a neuroscience and neuro plasticity post graduate, who has recently been here in London,‘we see remarkable recovery from all types of health issues from failed eye sight to stage 4 cancer, and it is down to letting go of the past and creating and loving your future’. Our thoughts can reverse our illness, when we choose to be the creator of our future and let go of the past. We can shift the hormonal balance in the body to release oxytocin, to feel good and increase the immune cells that help reverse illness. How do we do this? Dr Joe recommends leave all social media and phone communication aside when you wake up. Do something positive to set up your day rather than launch into problems and problem solving. A morning meditation 5 days a week for 20-30 minutes will allow the mind and body to come back into balance. Dr Joe suggests 60 days of work will help to shift your emotions into a positive state to rewire your thoughts and improve your health.(Many morning meditations are available free on youtube.) Being present, letting go of the underlying emotion will retrain the brain to let the body feel safe, secure and love. This ability to let go and be present can give the body and mind time to come back into balance. Dr Joe has seen that getting beyond the analytical mind in 4 days of meditation practice has shown a 50% change in IgA , our immune cells that up regulate the immune system. It isn’t all solved with meditation, but this is part of an ongoing practice, staying conscious through out the day, rehearsing the action of what you want, and creating your future. When we feel something good is going to happen we feel gratitude, we release good hormones and we heal. So I am challenging myself and anyone else to 60 days of meditation, starting the day with positive thoughts, managing emotions and journalling my fun filled future with positive emotions of love, joy and gratitude.Happy Meditating Related posts: Coronavirus – How to protect yourself Perimenopausal Ladies – What’s going on?
