Protein Packed Warrior Smoothie

This Protein Packed Warrior Smoothie is a great way to start your day, simply chuck all the ingredients into your blender or Nutri-bullet and away you go!

To start a busy day this is an easy nutrient dense smoothie.  It looks green but it is heavenly and protein packed with high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory omega 3 status.

Protein smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 tbs freshly ground flax for omega 3
  • 1 tbs freshly ground hemp seeds/hemp powder for protein
  • 1 tbs chia for fibre
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon for blood sugar balance
  • 1 banana frozen to protect enzymes
  • 1 handful blueberries/mixed berries
  • 1 tsp each or any of Chlorella, Spirulina and Moringa optional superfoods
  • 1/2 tsp bee pollen optional superfood
  • 1 handful of spinach, kale, or half avocado
  • 1 scoop Terranova life drink (optional)
  • 1 tbs almond butter
  • 1 cup nut milk, coconut water or filtered water
  • 1 scoop coconut oil/flax oil

 Method

  1. Place all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth.
  2. If you use Hemp Powder it has 50% more protein (7 grams per tablespoon) than hemp seed  and essential amino acids that the body doesn’t make itself.
  3. Hemp seeds or powder will not get you high, but contains omega 3, anti-inflammatory good fats (GLA) and trace Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, Vitamin B and Vitamin D.
  4. Cinnamon must be from Ceylon, It is often labelled Zeylanicum, other cinnamon won’t assist blood sugar balance.

When it comes to protein, the rule is roughly 0.83g per kilogram in body weight. So if for example, you weigh 60 kg then you should have 0.83 x 60 = 49.8g roughly 50g of protein spread throughout the day. If you’re aiming to build muscle it is healthy to increase protein levels to 1 – 1.5g per kg of body weight.

n.b. It is important to be flexible with quantities and ingredients as you will run out of things at difference times and adjust for flavour.
