Latest research, Vitamin D, Osteoporosis and longevity

Hi lovely people!

As the Summer draws to a closes and the shorter, cooler days arrive in the UK, it prompted me to share the latest powerful research and misconceptions when it comes to the most important supplement for the winter months- Vitamin D

I was talking at a festival on longevity this Summer and a lovely woman in her early 50’s spoke up. She had osteoporosis and was given Vitamin D by her doctor and was getting worse. When I asked her what was in the supplement, we found it only contained Vitamin D3.

So how does it work?
Vitamin D3 helps Calcium absorption, and Calcium in large quantities can be detrimental as it store in our arteries causing hardening of the arteiries.   Taking Vitamin D3 with K2 (available in the same capsule), will take the calcium to the bones rather than the arteries.

When to take it ?
Vitamin D needs to be taken with fat for absorption. Ideally take it with healthy fats such as nuts, avocado or cheese, morning or lunch time so as not to disrupt sleep.

Doctors are not always prescribing the right product to get the right results and in fact unless we take the right product at the right time we are potentially causing more harm than good.

Latest Research

New Scientific research shows taking 2000iu of Vitamin D3 for 4 years resulted in slowing biological aging by 3 years. The  participants taking 1g of omega 3 or a placebo did not extend their life span!

Note: 2000iu is the equivalent of 15 minutes sun bathing on a Summers day but when that is not possible taking a supplement is the answer.

The supplement I recommend is from Barefoot Nutrition “Complete D3 “(it does not contain sweeteners or fillers). As most of us don’t sunbathe for 15 mins daily I recommend taking one daily for a month (4000IU) to boost levels and then one every second day for the following 2 months. (1 bottle will last 3 months and cost £6 a month if you use my discount code HAN010).

If you are very low in vitamin D3 you would be best to test first and then supplement accordingly. Please feel free to contact me for details.

Much Love as always
